"Hello David and Bravo.

The pickaxe arrived in this afternoon's post. The box was surprisingly light. As it turned out, its weight was like the case holding a Guarnerius del Jesu. The grain is a 10 - not 4. And despite first apprearances, it's weighs like an orange blossum - not the rough tool for which it is named. And it's touch and draw are
smooth as silky Cuban flan fresh from the oven. The conical shape fits perfectly in the hand, the middle finger ad thumg falling naturally into place as if the pipe had always been there. I note that the outlet hole in the base of the bowl is unusually large and tapers perhaps serving as a venturi between the bowl and the stem.

This piece again exerts the strange effect that the bent chimney produced: visually stunning but close one's eyes and the piece has a lightness, lyricism and tinge of melancholy I must say that is like the scherzo from a Mendelsohn string quartet.
